This Privacy Policy explains how Astropulse LLC ("Astropulse," "we," "us," or "our"), a New Hampshire limited liability company, handles information in connection with the Semantic Interlinear Bible — the website at silbible.com, its mobile application, and related services (together, the "Service").
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is never stored in readable form — it is salted and hashed, and we cannot recover it.
- Content you create. When you are signed in, the highlights, notes, drawings, saved items, and study-chat conversations you make are stored so they can sync across your devices. Until you sign in, this content stays only in your browser or app on your device.
- Supporter display name. If you make a donation or hold a supporter subscription, you may choose a public display name to appear in the "Supporters" list. Providing a name is optional; you can change it or remove it at any time.
- Communications. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include.
Information collected automatically
- IP address. Our servers briefly receive your IP address, as any website does. We use it to serve the Service and to prevent abuse. For rate-limiting we do not store your raw IP address — we store only a salted, one-way hash of it, which cannot be reversed back to your address. We also derive a coarse, approximate location (such as a country or region) that feeds the anonymous, aggregated "where it's read" map; this is not tied to your identity or account.
- Basic technical data. Standard request information such as browser type and the pages or data you request, used to operate and troubleshoot the Service.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your card number or other full payment details — those go directly to Stripe. For a one-time donation we keep only the display name you chose (if any) and the date; we do not keep your email or the amount. For a subscription we store Stripe's identifiers for your customer and subscription, along with its status and renewal date, so we can provide the supporter features and let you manage or cancel your subscription. Stripe handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- provide, maintain, and sync the Service and your content across your devices;
- process donations and subscriptions and provide supporter features;
- maintain reasonable usage limits and protect the Service from abuse, fraud, and automated misuse;
- respond to your messages and send account-related emails you request, such as a password reset;
- understand overall, aggregated usage so we can improve and complete the Service; and
- comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
3. The AI study chat
The study chat answers questions using a third-party artificial-intelligence model provider. When you send a chat message, that message — together with the relevant Scripture passages and, if you allow it, a summary of your own notes and highlights that helps answer your question — is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. Please do not enter sensitive personal information into the chat. AI-generated responses may be incomplete or inaccurate and are provided as a study aid only; see our Terms of Service.
5. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The Service uses your browser's local storage on your own device to keep you signed in (a session token), to remember your preferences (such as text size and reading mode), and to hold your highlights, notes, and chats locally. This information stays on your device; clearing your browser or app storage removes it. Our infrastructure providers may set strictly necessary cookies required to deliver and secure the site.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your account and the content you sync for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account — yourself from the account panel, or by asking us — we delete the account and its synced content, except where we must keep certain records to meet legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations (for example, Stripe retains payment records as required of a payment processor). Sign-in sessions expire automatically. The salted IP hashes used for rate-limiting are short-lived and are pruned over time. Aggregated, de-identified data (such as the read map) may be kept indefinitely because it does not identify you.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, correction, and deletion. You can permanently delete your account and its synced content yourself at any time from the account panel (the person icon in the reader → "Delete account"); this also cancels any active subscription. You may also request a copy of the personal information associated with your account, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing support@silbible.com from your account's email address, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
- Your supporter listing. You control whether your chosen name appears in the Supporters list, and can change or remove it at any time from the Support page.
- Marketing. We do not send marketing email. Any email we send is transactional (for example, a password reset you requested).
- Do Not Sell or Share. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or, for users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, the GDPR (including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@silbible.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information: connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are salted and hashed, raw IP addresses are not stored for rate-limiting, and account data is kept in private storage that is not publicly accessible. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential.
9. Children
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Where information is processed
Astropulse is based in the United States, and the Service is operated and stored in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your country.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
